A minimalistic poster depicting the photograph "Pale Blue Dot" On 14 February 1990, Voyager 1 turned around from six billion kilometers and photographed home. Earth took up less than a single pixel; printed here close to true scale, so there is almost nothing to see.
Earth photographed from roughly six billion kilometres, occupying less than a single pixel in a band of scattered sunlight. Everything anyone has ever done happened inside that dot.
Source. Voyager 1, 14 February 1990, taken at Carl Sagan's urging as the spacecraft turned its camera back toward the inner solar system.
Why we made it. The mission team said at the time that the photograph had no scientific value. It has outlived almost every image that was taken for data, because of the argument it makes rather than the data it holds.
Best with space around it — a hallway or a bedroom wall, rather than a crowded gallery arrangement.
Pale blue dot poster ships flat and unframed. Delivery, returns and damage cover are set out in full on the FAQ.
