Frequently asked
Paper, sizes, shipping, returns and custom work — the things people ask before they buy.
The posters
- What paper are Quarx posters printed on?
- Every poster is printed on 250 gsm matte art paper. The matte finish is deliberate: it holds detail in the fine rule work and does not throw glare back at you under a ceiling light or a window, which is what happens with gloss.
- What sizes do you offer?
- Posters come in A5 (14.8 × 21 cm), A4 (21 × 29.7 cm) and A3 (29.7 × 42 cm). A4 is the most popular for a desk or a shelf; A3 suits a wall where the poster is meant to be seen from across the room.
- Do the posters come framed?
- No. Posters ship unframed and flat, so you can choose a frame that suits your wall. Every size is a standard A-series dimension, so off-the-shelf frames fit without trimming or a custom mount.
- Are the designs original?
- Yes. Every Quarx design is drawn in-house. There is no stock art and no AI generation, and each scientific claim on a poster is checked against a primary source before it goes to print.
- Will the print fade over time?
- Pigment inks on matte art paper hold their colour for years indoors. As with any print, keep it out of direct sunlight — continuous strong sun will fade any paper, framed or not.
Ordering and payment
- How do I pay for an order?
- Payments are handled by Razorpay, which accepts UPI, credit and debit cards, net banking and popular wallets. You are taken to Razorpay's secure page to pay, and Quarx never sees or stores your card details.
- Do you offer cash on delivery?
- Not at the moment. All orders are paid online before they are packed, which is what lets us keep prices where they are.
- Can I change or cancel my order after paying?
- If your order has not yet shipped, email us and we will change or cancel it. Once a parcel is handed to the courier it cannot be recalled, so the sooner you write the better.
- Do I need an account to order?
- No. You can check out as a guest with just an email address and a delivery address. If you do create an account, any past orders placed with the same email are linked to it automatically.
- Will I get an invoice?
- Yes. A confirmation email with your order number and a full itemised list is sent as soon as payment clears, and a second email goes out when the parcel ships.
Shipping and delivery
- Where does Quarx ship to?
- We ship across India. We do not ship internationally yet — if you are outside India and want something, write to us and we will tell you honestly whether we can help.
- How long will my order take to arrive?
- Orders are packed within two working days. Delivery then usually takes three to seven working days depending on where you are, with metros at the faster end of that range.
- How much does shipping cost?
- Shipping is a flat rate across India and is shown at checkout before you pay. There are no charges added after the total you confirm.
- How are posters packed?
- Posters ship flat in a rigid board-backed envelope rather than rolled in a tube, so they arrive without a curl and need no flattening before framing.
- Can I track my order?
- Yes. The email we send when your parcel ships includes the courier and a tracking number.
Returns and damage
- What if my poster arrives damaged?
- Email a photo of the damage within seven days of delivery and we will send a replacement at no cost. You do not need to return the damaged print.
- Can I return a poster if I change my mind?
- Unused posters in their original packaging can be returned within seven days of delivery. Return postage is yours unless the item arrived damaged or we sent the wrong thing.
- Are custom orders returnable?
- Custom and personalised pieces are made for one person and cannot be returned or resold, so they are final sale. We will always show you a proof before printing.
Custom and bulk orders
- Can I get a poster customised?
- Yes. Every product page has a Customise this button that opens an email with the product details already filled in — add what you would like changed, whether that is a size, a colour, different wording or a different equation entirely, and we will reply with a quote.
- Do you take bulk or corporate orders?
- Yes, for classrooms, labs, offices and events. Write to us with rough quantities and a deadline and we will come back with pricing and a realistic timeline.
- Can you design something that does not exist yet?
- Often, yes. If there is an idea from science you want on a wall and we have not made it, tell us about it. Some of what we sell started as exactly that kind of email.
